Fashion For Furkids Returns May 6

Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters will host its third annual Fashion for Furkids on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., bringing guests to its 9-acre sanctuary in Cumming for a luncheon that pairs fashion and philanthropy with an inside look at the dynamic organization’s work.

What began with founder Samantha Shelton rescuing a family of cats from her porch has grown into one of the most expansive animal welfare operations in the country. Today, Furkids runs Georgia’s largest no-kill shelter and the Southeast’s largest cage-free cat sanctuary, supported by a campus designed not only for rescue and care, but for connection. It’s a place where adoptions, volunteering, events, and everyday community life intersect, powered by a network of more than 1,000 active volunteers.

The setting is part of the draw. The luncheon takes place at Shiloh Gardens, a restored events space within Furkids’ 9-acre sanctuary that reflects the organization’s broader vision. What was once an overgrown, neglected property has been transformed into a botanical campus designed not only for rescue and care, but as a place where the community can gather, connect, and spend time with animals in a more natural, open environment. Hosted by author and fashion historian, Nancy Flaherty of the Couture Council of Georgia, the luncheon features a seated program with live music and a silent auction focused on new and vintage designer handbags, with proceeds supporting Furkids’ rescue, medical, and adoption efforts across Georgia.

The event also arrives at a defining moment for the organization. Furkids is preparing to open a new state-of-the-art dog shelter and medical center set to open this May, further expanding its campus and reinforcing a model that has already helped place more than 80,000 animals into homes. With a state-of-the-art medical facility set to open this summer and its 25th anniversary approaching in 2027, the organization is entering a new phase of growth and visibility.

Fashion for Furkids takes place Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Furkids Headquarters, 5235 Union Hill Road in Cumming, just a few miles from the Alpharetta line. Tickets are $100, with proceeds supporting Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters and its rescue, medical, and adoption programs across Georgia. The luncheon includes live music, a presentation by fashion historian Nancy Flaherty of the Couture Council of Georgia, and a silent auction featuring new and vintage designer handbags.
