Monday night, Atlanta welcomed the latest brewery to join the current surge of craft beer businesses sprouting up throughout the Southeast—Eventide Brewing. Hosting nearly 250 friends, family and supporters, Eventide released the first two craft beers off its roster, an a American Pale Ale and a Kölsch Style Ale, during a special celebration at Six Feet Under in Grant Park, a nearby neighbor to the brewery.  Born out of a collaborative homebrewing project, Eventide Brewing is the collective brainchild of: marketing guru Mat Sweezey; mechanical engineer, Nathan Cowan; brand manager, Haley Cowan; and BCJP judge and brewmaster, Geoffrey Williams.  It’s their diverse backgrounds combined with a love of Craft offerings that have allowed Eventide to take a hands on approach to the creation of the overall brand. From the designing and fabrication of many of the onsite components of the brew system to hand-carved tap handles that will be used throughout the market – when you drink a beer from Eventide, you are drinking true a “craft beer”.

“We love and pride ourselves in that the roots of Eventide Brewing stem from a homebrewing project,” says Sweezey. “Our motto is that ‘great doesn’t have to be complicated’ and I think that will show with the more people who get to know us and our beers.”

A perfectionist of his craft, Williams’ recipes go through multiple phases before being finalized and approved for general consumption. As a result, his beers have won multiple awards and he has recently been granted the honor of becoming a BJCP judge. His philosophy behind the brewing process is best summarized in a quote from Vince Lombardi which reads, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we catch excellence.” This guides his way of thinking and is the driving force behind his passion to create and sustain something great without all of the complications.

Beginning today, the first two beers from Eventide, a Kölsch Style Ale and an American Pale Ale, will be available in pubs and restaurants throughout Atlanta. The Kölsch Style Ale is a crisp, easy drinking German golden, that pairs well with any meal or mood. It can be said that the American Pale is the beer that started the Craft revolution. For Eventide, that meant pairing an American hop and malt profile with an English yeast train. The result is an immensely drinkable brew that is bold enough for “hop heads”, yet smooth enough for newcomers.  Currently only available on tap, Eventide will be available in cans by the end of the year.

The following locations have joined with Eventide Brewing in its launch and are featuring both the Kölsch Style Ale and American Pale Ale beginning today:  Argosy (East Atlanta), Augustine’s (Grant Park), Barrel and Barley Craft Beer Market (Woodstock), The Beer Growler (Brookhaven), Brick Store Pub (Decatur), Cypress Street Pint and Plate (Midtown), Graveyard Tavern (Decatur), Kaleidoscope (Brookhaven), My Friend’s Growler Shop (Grant Park), The Porter Beer Bar (Little Five Points), The Square Pub (Decatur), Six Feet Under (Grant Park), Taco Mac – Canton (Canton), Taco Mac – Cumming (Cumming), Taco Mac – Decatur (Decatur), Taco Mac – Duluth (Duluth), Taco Mac – East Roswell (Alpharetta),Taco Mac – Mall of Georgia (Buford), Taco Mac – Peachtree City (Peachtree City), Taco Mac – Perimeter Place (Dunwoody), Taco Mac – Prado (Sandy Springs), Taco Mac – Metropolis (Midtown) and 97 Estoria (Cabbagetown).
