Listen up, football fans! On Saturday, November 30th, the ACC will once again meet the SEC in one of the most talked about games of the season. There’s no football rivalry in the state of Georgia bigger than UGA vs. Georgia Tech and to get in on the action, Midtown’s favorite neighborhood bar and restaurant will once again host the city’s largest tailgate party. Beginning at 10 a, Cypress Street Pint and Plate will open its doors to UGA and Georgia Tech fans alike for some good old-fashioned Southern (should be southern) competition. Guests will enjoy a variety of delicious food specials, live music before and after the game, and of course, ice cold brews courtesy of Athens’ Terrapin Beer Company and Atlanta’s own SweetWater Brewing Company. Hardcore football fanatics fear not, as (remove – as) the big game will be shown on every TV throughout the restaurant, (remove comma) with sound, while Chef Richard Silvey grills up some of the best tailgate grub in the city. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to grab their seat and the first fifty guests will receive a limited edition game hat. Of course, (remove of course,) The party isn’t over when the game ends; Cypress Street is in it for the long run and will keep the beer flowing and the food coming until late into the night. Jackson Fine Art in Buckhead is thrilled to present acclaimed photographer Tierney Gearon’s COLORSHAPE series opening Friday, November 8, 2013 from 6-8pm, through February 22, 2014. A contemporary artist who had gained both noted critical and commercial recognition in the US and abroad for her powerful and intense color photographs, Gearon’s new series COLORSHAPE revolves around subject of color and shape where upon the artist builds on site handmade vibrant colored Plexiglass structures in picturesque landscapes, snow-toped mountains, urban streets and neighborhoods. Known for her use of incorporating her children and their friends into her work, COLORSHAPE brilliantly captures her subjects, literally, suspended in a moment, in the multi-color plexi-shaped sculptures– while transporting both the subject and viewer to another world from the familiar to the unknown strange land of encased children and animals in prisms of reflecting color.
To celebrate the arrival of the series, Jackson Fine Art is hosting an opening night reception and artist meet and greet on Friday, November 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. that is open to the public. Additionally, Gearon and the gallery invite children and their families to join them for free carnival and book signing of her newly released children’s Alphabet Book published by Damiani. The carnival kicks of at 11 a.m. at Jackson Fine Art and includes interactive art projects sponsored by Colorwheel of Decatur, an appearance by Reptile Man-the snake handler, and cotton candy and cupcakes galore. The event is the perfect opportunity to introduce galleries and exhibitions the next generation of budding collectors and artists.

Gucci will host the “Handbag Artisan Corner” in the house’s Atlanta store. The exclusive event will bring the craftsmanship of Gucci’s Florentine leather goods factory directly to its clientele, allowing guests to view skilled artisans assembling some of the House’s most iconic handbags.
The Gucci artisans will focus on assembling the House’s signature New Bamboo, New Jackie, Soft Stirrup and Soho bags. The hand-crafted products will be available in exotic skins and exclusive colors and can be personalized with hand-embossed monogramming. The Artisan Corner display will include custom work tables, a sewing machine, a leather stand, and metal tools, as well as additional background materials which illustrate the evolution of the products, from mood board to sketches.
The original Gucci Bamboo bag was created in 1947 and was reintroduced in the Spring Summer 2010 collection. The New Bamboo is comprised of 130 separate pieces and is crafted the same way as the original, requiring two days of work to ensure its perfect details. Meanwhile, the New Jackie takes its cue from a 1960s style that became the preferred accessory for Jacqueline Onassis, who was photographed toting numerous versions. America’s former First Lady was so devoted to the style that the bag soon assumed the moniker ‘The Jackie.’ Featuring a spur closure and echoing the House’s equestrian heritage, the Soft Stirrup bag boasts unparalleled craftsmanship and draws inspiration from an iconic model from 1975. The Soho bag is distinguished by the interlocking G that appears embossed and stitched for a discreet, iconic style.
The Gucci artisans and Artisan Corner display will be in the Atlanta store for public viewing October 22 – 24.
