Puppy Yoga Is Back at Firkids This Summer
Somewhere between a workout, a fundraiser, and a serotonin boost sits puppy yoga.
Beginning June 10, Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters is bringing back its Puppy Yoga Summer Series, inviting guests to spend Wednesday mornings stretching alongside adoptable rescue puppies at the organization’s 9-acre headquarters campus just north of Alpharetta.
The concept is refreshingly simple. A certified instructor leads the class. The puppies do whatever they want.
Held every Wednesday through July 15, the indoor series pairs guided yoga with adoptable puppies roaming throughout the room, creating an experience that’s equal parts wellness class, community gathering, and puppy playdate.
The timing arrives as Furkids enters a significant new chapter. What began more than two decades ago with founder Samantha Shelton rescuing a frightened family of cats from her porch has grown into Georgia’s largest no-kill shelter and one of the Southeast’s most expansive volunteer-driven animal welfare organizations. Following the opening of the new Sutherlin Dog Shelter, Furkids continues expanding its campus and shelters while advancing its broader vision for rescue, healing, adoption, veterinary care, and community connection across Georgia.
Classes take place Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on June 10, 17, and 24, and July 1, 8, and 15. Tickets are $38 and available here, with proceeds supporting Furkids’ rescue, medical, and adoption efforts across Georgia.
The yoga is nice. The puppies are the main event. For more information about Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters, ways to get involved, or to donate, visit www.furkids.org and follow along on Instagram at @furkidsatlanta.
