Café 1933 Opens in Midtown
Café 1933, a new restaurant and bar located in the heart of Midtown, has officially opened its doors for lunch, dinner, late night eats and weekend brunch. Featuring approachable, farm-to-table cuisine, an impressive cocktail menu, diverse wine selection and more, the new dining location is founded by Caleb Giles, an award-winning bartender and food and beverage consultant.
A nod to the end of Prohibition, Café 1933’s atmosphere invokes a sultry and moody vibe reminiscent of the enticing bar culture of the era. A dynamic mural created by Atlanta artist Pash Lima spans the walls and is complimented by dim lighting, dramatic chandeliers, an intimate bar area, ample seating, and shades of gray, red and black throughout. The new spot also boasts a spacious, dog-friendly atmosphere overlooking bustling Peachtree Street.
Café 1933’s brunch, lunch and dinner menus, all created by Giles, feature new American cuisine with Asian accents made using French cooking techniques. With fresh, locally sourced ingredients, lunch offerings include a mix of salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. Already a fast favorite, burger lovers can’t go wrong with BFRD Hwy Smash Burger – two house ground brisket and sirloin patties topped with bok choy, Korean cheese ramen, gochujang sauce, and cheese, while veggie lovers can delight in the Beet Burger made with tri-color beets and house-herb infused blend topped with goat cheese and served on a brioche bun. At dinner, guests can indulge in sharable starters and caviar bumps along with a range of entrées, from vegetarian options to seafood dishes like the scallops with celeriac puree, pomegranate buerre-rouge, shiso leaf and red beets; lobster roll with hot garlic butter and cold herb mayonnaise; and seasonal Vavavoom Oysters. Lamb chops, ribeye, venison and Café 1933’s signature Chicken & Waffles are also available on the dinner menu. Guests can end their meal and satisfy sweet tooth cravings with classic cheesecake, and vanilla, cola, or orange ice cream.
“I’ve always loved experimenting with ingredients to make low-brow food gourmet,” says Giles. “We want people to come to Café 1933 and have fun while they drink and eat.”
Atlantans and visitors alike are invited to celebrate the weekend during Café 1933’s extravagant brunch. ‘Appeteasers’ including the French Toast Bites, Mini Cornbread Pancakes, and the Venison Benedict are sure to please along with hearty handhelds like the Salmon Ball Sub and No Dope on Sundays spicy chicken sandwich. Caviar service, traditional brunch favorites, from pancakes and avocado toast to shrimp & grits are also available every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A veteran standout within Atlanta’s cocktail community and beyond, Giles has crafted a cocktail program that combines classic and signature creations for guests to explore. Also open for late night drinks and eats, immediate standouts include: Rambo – tequila, Carpano Botanic Bitter, pineapple and lime; the W.T. Old Fashioned – Jepson’s Bourbon, bitters and root beer reduction; and Becky’s Favorite – Ketel One Peach Vodka, orange blossom, lemon sugar, and bubbles. Café 1933 also has a diverse wine selection and a variety of craft beers for all tastes.
Café 1933 is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Every Monday night, Café 1933 has a themed industry night showcasing a local chef.
