In Downtown Atlanta, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint Is Dialing Up Brunch
Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint, the Downtown Atlanta institution on Peachtree, has elevated its brunch game with several new menu items this season. Under the culinary creative direction of Chef Quanton Walker, who continues to bring innovative Southern twists to the menu, dishes such as the red wine-braised short rib hash, banana foster French toast, shrimp and eggs with classic deviled eggs and blackened or fried shrimp, and the pork chop and eggs with breakfast potatoes now stand alongside signature items that already make this a destination for brunch aficionados. For those familiar with Juke Joint’s ’stick to your ribs’ southern fare house favorites such as the catfish & grits topped with a bayou cream sauce, chicken & waffles with its signature Juke Joint seasoning blend, the jambalaya pasta with crawfish, chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage in a creole cream sauce, and the ’southern starter’ complete with fried green tomatoes, crispy Vidalia onions, fried okra, herb goat cheese, and a red pepper aioli still remain the foundation of this most favorite meal.
Everybody knows that a tasty food menu is only half of what makes brunch, which is why Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint delivers a cocktail selection that blends classic offerings with bold and refreshing flavors, all with Southern flair. Starting with the juicy Sweet Georgia Peach-Tini, the menu ably complements any dish on the brunch menu. From the Juke Joint Old Fashioned to the Millionaire Mojito and especially their selection of moonshine-fueled cocktails, like Miss Ceely’s Punch, the Down South, Juke Lemonade, or Moonshine Mule, each recipe hearkens back to southern juke joint recipes of old, delighting with every sip. And of course, what brunch is complete without an endless mimosa option?
Opened in 2011 on iconic Peachtree Street in the historic former Macy’s Department Store, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint delivers an experience deeply rooted in the unique culture of the South. With the addition of live entertainment, the concept’s creative spin on food and music is reminiscent of yesteryear’s rural juke joints and pays tribute to these establishments each day. Rebuilding on a foundation that made it into an Atlanta favorite before the pandemic- as one of the “Best Bets for Fried Chicken” by Zagat and its award-winning Shrimp & Grits making JEZEBEL Magazine’s “Atlanta’s Top 111 Must-Try Tastes,” Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint is poised to welcome guests from around the world and down the street.
Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint is located at 200 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308.
