ATLANTA FOUNDATION FOR PUBLIC SPACES CELEBRATES THE THIRD ANNUAL CALLANWOLDE ARTS FESTIVAL

Join the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces (AFFPS) on Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24, 2016, as they celebrate the third annual Callanwolde Arts Festival. The award-winning, two-day indoor festival is located in one of Atlanta’s most distinctive historic properties, the 27,000-square foot Callanwolde Mansion in Druid Hills, and features approximately 86 painters, photographers, sculptors, metalwork, glass artists, jewelers and more.  The festival, which is open to all ages, will also offer artist demonstrations, live acoustic music, food trucks with healthy alternatives, and live music and dance performances. Admission is $5 at the door.

Art lovers are also invited to take advantage of the ticketed V.I.P. Preview Sales Party on Friday, January 22 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Upon arrival, guests will be greeted are with a glass of wine to sip on as they stroll throughout the historic home and will be the first to view and shop the artwork showcased at this year’s festival.  Guest are also invited to enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres while they mix and mingle with the artists and enjoy live acoustic music.  Admission to the V.I.P. Celebrate Local Artists at Ocean Market During a Special Opening Featuring the Work of Chris Strawbridge

Ocean Market, a Parisian-inspired bistro located in Downtown Atlanta, will host an opening for its Local Artist Series on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 during a special cocktail celebration for artist Chris Strawbridge from 7 to 9 p.m. Open to the public, guests are invited to mix and mingle with the featured artist as they sip on complimentary libations and enjoy bites created by Chef Shane McIntosh of Ocean Market and Ocean Catering Company while perusing Strawbridge’s work, which will also be available for purchase.  Co-owners Chef Shane and Sage Stewart rotate works from local artists of various mediums every few months. The Atlanta-based artist has shown his artwork in multiple art galleries and festivals throughout Atlanta and his artwork hangs in commercial buildings, restaurants and in private collections. Enjoying a 30-year long career within architecture and interior design firms has influenced how Strawbridge’s incorporates line, form, space and composition. Working mostly in acrylics, grease crayon, and graphite on canvas, his art has been described as architectural, minimalistic, abstract, and sometimes even, whimsical.

OLD FOURTH WARD ARTS FESTIVAL CELEBRATES YEAR TWO WITH A WEEKEND OF ART, FOOD, MUSIC AND FUN AT THE HISTORIC FOURTH WARD PARK

This weekend, join the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces as they celebrate the second annual Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival. The two-day festival will once again be held in Atlanta’s picturesque Historic Fourth Ward Park that is conveniently located along the bustling Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. Named “Best New Event” by the Southeast Festivals and Events Association, festival goers are invited to explore fabulous works of art while enjoying live music in the amphitheater, local food vendors, drinks, a children’s area, hands-on art demonstrations, games, and much more! The event is free, open to all ages and dogs are welcome.

In addition to 200 local and regional artists and artisans, including photographers Rob Simmons and Chris Mason and painters Whitney Summerford and Kristin Thorson, and a new Binder’s Emerging Artist Pavilion, this year’s festival will feature live acoustic performers throughout the weekend. Festival goers can sit back, relax and enjoy live music from: Nena Dubois; Laughlin; Reckless Mercy; Battlefield Collective; Adam Klein, Faithless Town; SenoritAwesome!, Rachel Wiggins, Chris Stalcup & The Grange, Faithless Town, Truckstop Confidential, and Sabbatical Year. Additionally, Roly Poly, the Genki-to-Go Food Truck, Williamson Bros. BBQ, Yumbii, Sunshine Sammies, King of Pops, Jalapeno Corndog, and The Bubble Tea Truck will be at the event to feed hungry patrons. The Atlanta Sports and Social Club will also be serving up a bevy of games like giant Jenga, Cornhole, and Bear Pong to test the skills of event goers of all ages.

Rich with diversity and one of the most enthusiastic art communities in the Atlanta area, the Old Fourth Ward’s Historic Fourth Ward Park is just off North Avenue, across from the Ponce City Market. We’re encouraging Atlantans to grab their walking shoes, bikes or rollerblades and take the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail to this year’s event.
